Rod Bathgate | "Little Jewels, Big Gems"

I have always appreciated the jewel-like qualities of moving water- their hypnotic effects of the eye and their sparkling, cleansing feel. Through adapting a palette to suit the seascape, an almost unlimited vocabulary of flicker, refractions, shadows and reflections, merge to give me the desired finish. I believe pastel can achieve much more than any other medium in creating ‘believable’ water with great speed. Even today my desire to discover more about this ever changing subject grows more and more.

Lou Nickolls | "Summer Fruits"

Having a large garden, with many fruit and vegetable plants, promotes my interest in painting still life, subject matter that allows me to change the results of nature. I have control over the light source and background, over the selection of either freshly harvested onions, or those that have been hanging for several months. What I intend to prepare for a meal invariably becomes the subject matter for a study to paint, thus the inclusion of seafood in my works.

David Mackay Harrison | "Bronze Figures"

Aesthetically beautiful. David's female figures demand to be gazed at. His animals also appeal to our senses. The cat curled up in a corner, chin on paws and ears flattened, the stately pose of the fierce rhinoceros or the anxious kitten ready to pounce find a perfect balance between stylisation and realism. They are executed with an amazing technical precision. The mottled surface of the bronze dances with varying degrees of light and creates a textured surface on his smooth sculptures.
