Born 1925, Ingham, Queensland
 
He studied at the National Art School, East Sydney technical College from 1947 to 1950 and taught there from 1959 to 1966. From 1969 to 1972 he lived in Paris, where he designed many tapestries for the Aubusson workshops, including two tapestry curtains for the Sydney Opera House. He was Head of the National Art School from 1972 to 1974.
