Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1943, HARRY PIDGEON studied at Sydney's National Art School and graduated in graphics in 1965. In 1980, he turned his back on a flourishing career as an art director for international clients and took up the brush full-time. It is his passion for the act of painting that continues to drive Pidgeon to produce intoxicatingly rich and always original compositions. Although comfortable with most media, he is particularly well-regarded for his watercolours, with their vibrant clarity, dynamic execution and radiance of colour.

"A bird can become the pivotal basis for images of forests, rooftops or trawlers at rest. A kangaroo rises up from a desert of dreamtime symbols."

What distinguishes this artist, is not only the vibrant, luminous colour intensity of his subjects and the mastery of his drawing, but the way he realises the interplay of realism and impressionsism capturing his compositions on paper or canvas, in watercolour, gouache and oils.

Harry Pidgeon's works are held in many collections including British Royal, Australian Vice Regal, Australian Government, Regional Art Galleries as well as corporate and private collections throughout the world. Harry's work is referenced in art encyclopedias and indexes in Australia and USA, and numerous magazine and newspaper articles have been written about him in Australia.
