Exhibition opened FRIDAY, 6 October 2000, at 6pm

From the depths of the sea bed, to high in the sky amongst native birds, Pigeon's vantage point is designed to surprise. This exhibition comprises 34 of Pidgeon's most recent works.

"I have always painted what I see. What I see are relationships: nature and the rural landscape; natural habitats and townships; stillness and motion as the jetty is to boats and the sea, or cloth of sky to a flash-dance of birds and leaves; shapes, patterns and illusion as in the interaction between a gathering of trawlers, reflections and shadows or a jigsaw or roofs, windows, alleys. Painting and drawing arises out of a sense of connecting the image with an emotion, seeking that special relationship, be it drawn from the 'mountains to the sea', our social culture, icons in the landscape or the delights of southern France."

The exhibition continues until Monday, October 30, 2000

"A bird can become the pivotal basis for images of forests, rooftops or trawlers at rest. A kangaroo rises up from a desert of dreamtime symbols."
