ANNE GILLIGAN

• Born in England and educated at Brentwood Grammar.

• Diploma of Printing, London College of Printing and Graphic Art.

• Studied with Jean Alexander of the Slade, London.

• Illustrator/layout artist with Hodder Publishing, London, for several years before marrying and moving to Australia in 1966.

• Painted under the name of Anne Lembke during the next 20 years receiving many awards and commendations and working up annual solo exhibitions.

• End of the 1980s, took a break from painting to pursue interests and work in other fields including photography, framing and also four years as an Electorate Secretary to local State Politician.

• Early 1990s, married John Gilligan, a marine engineer and gradually re-introduced herself to the art scene, particularly to marine art.

Now spends several months during the year sailing with her husband on their yacht Jade, painting the everchanging scenes in the Hawkesbury River basin, Sydney Harbour and Lake Macquarie. Future plans include combining the pleasures of painting and sailing in other coastal areas of NSW & Queensland.
