Anne Gilligan produces much of her painting from the stern of their yacht,”Jade,” whether it be on the Hawkesbury River or Lake Macquarie, mooching around the small inlets and bays. Anne and her husband John have been ‘swept up’ with the yachting life for years. It’s not uncommon to see them socialising on the beach with other ‘yachties’ enjoying a drink and absorbing the lifestyle of the waterways. In fact, in this exhibition she has given us an introduction to this way of life, through a detailed labelling of the paintings.
In this exhibition, she is focusing on the reflections of the waterways, a natural bush or bay settings- varying in mood from tranquility to an impending storm.
