Bruce Rowland, another local artist is most well known for a multiple of interests he has, however his teaching at the Newcastle TAFE is where he has given generations of students the benefit of his traditional painting skills. He is further recognized for his writing, set/stage designer, puppet making & marionette performances.

Fine draughtsmanship is the stage-set for Bruce's work and the figure its main protagonist. Everything is coloured by a sense of a theatre. He is collected widely and has been involved in many successful exhibitions as a painter and printmaker.

This exhibition of 19 paintings, including 10 oils and 9 works on paper, is based on theatrical themes, the feature being the figurative painting 'Puppet Master'.
