I have used the title WINDOWS for my show, to refer to my painting style, to give another dimension to the landscapes.

I use 'window' in its widest sense, meaning opening, to let light in, to look through, to see detail, fragment, break up into parts, allowing the viewer to travel his or her road through the painting.

The late Frank Hodgkinson once said "Like the frame to a painting the window never completes a picture nor does it restrict its boundaries. Through it, beyond it, things continue to happen".

Some of my paintings are of Newcastle's waterfront while some are inspired by Nelsons Bay, Fingal Bay and the surrounding areas. While visiting there the weather was very mixed; from stormy skies with rough seas to blue skies and calm seas, giving many opportunities for "windows".

Two other paintings are very obvious window landscapes - through dense growth on a running river to a calm lake beyond.

On waking each morning at home I view the sunrise over the ocean from my real window presenting the opportunity to paint a "window" of the start of my day.
