ARTHUR BOYD (b 1920 d 1999) Style: SEMI-ABSTRACT/ EXPRESSIONIST Arthur Boyd is part of Australia's foremost art dynasties. Most of his training was undertaken within the family fold under the tutelage of his grandfather Arthur Merrick Boyd. Boyd felt the trauma of the war acutely and invested his work with a dark drama, He moved to London in the late 1950s and soon established an international reputation. He remained in Europe for some time. In 1973, after two years as artist in residence at ANU, he settled at Bundanoon, NSW. He has since made a gift of this property (and Riverdale at Shoalhaven) to the nation. He was elected 1995 Australian of the Year. Click on image to view a larger image
