Since 1957, painter, teacher and tapestry designer, John Coburn has had over 30 exhibitions at many major Australian galleries and Europe and USA. His clean and simple designs feature large, stylised shapes in rich colours. This style obviously lends itself to tapestry design and Coburn's are outstanding. He lived in Paris for three years and designed tapestries for the Aubusson workshops including two curtains for the Sydney Opera House.
