Styles: EXPRESSIONIST Formal art studies at Julian Ashton Art school, Slade School, London; with time living abroad gave his reputation a boost. Exhibiting at the Royal Academy, drew a conservative expatriate following that labeled him as the figurehead of the Sydney moderist wartime movement. His war service adding a further vitality & succession of portrait studies. His best portraits "Billy Boy", "The Strapper", "Scotty."
